$500 scholarship to an incoming freshman, distributed over the first two semesters, created by friends and family of a deceased journalism graduate. No application process; because this scholarship is based on financial need, the Financial Aid Office indicates which students are eligible
$1,000 scholarship for a junior, based on academic achievement and a commitment to communication, created through the generosity of a former department chair
$500 award to a graduating senior showing a commitment to communication, created as a memorial fund established by friends and family of a popular and legendary journalism professor who died in 2000
$1,250 scholarship for a Communication or English student with strong writing skills, created in memory of a woman who valued good writing (contact the Communication Department for more information)
Journalism. Society of Professional Journalists, Greater Buffalo International Chapter scholarship to juniors, seniors or graduate students (generally $1,000 to $1,500). Applications: Annemarie Franczyk, Communication faculty.
Public Relations. May C. Randazzo Public Relations Scholarship ($1,000) for Western New York juniors or seniors, sponsored by the Buffalo/Niagara chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. Applications: Deborah Silverman, Communication faculty.
Humanities. Dr. Charles A. Messner Scholarship Fund ($5,000 annually); renewable for up to three additional years provided the recipient earns a 3.0 cumulative GPA and continues to have a declared major in a humanities program.
